Goodwin Procter Advises Software Firm Vyatta in Acquisition by Brocade

A team of Goodwin Procter attorneys advised software-based networking firm Vyatta in its recently announced planned acquisition by Brocade, a data networking solutions company.

The deal, which is for an undisclosed amount of cash, is expected to close by the end of 2012. Brocade said Vyatta’s software is “highly relevant for multiple applications in network virtualization, software-defined networking and private/public cloud computing platforms.”

Vyatta, a privately held firm based in Belmont, Calif., develops software programs to address data network demands. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in San Jose, Calif., Brocade provides networking and cloud computing solutions to Global 1000 data centers.

The Goodwin team that worked on the deal was led by Lawrence Chu and included Lynda Galligan, Kelsey Lemaster, Richard Matheny and James Riley.
