Goodwin Procter Selected as a 2012 "Best Law Firm for Women" by Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers

BOSTON, November 14, 2012 – Goodwin Procter, a national Am Law 50 firm, has been named as a “Best Law Firm for Women” by Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers for the third consecutive survey year. The list recognizes 50 law firms across the nation whose family-friendly policies and business development initiatives are retaining female attorneys and advancing them into their leadership pipeline, creating new opportunities for top female legal talent.

Goodwin’s work/life and women-friendly policies will be featured in the December/January issue of the magazine, and are among those profiled at www.workingmother.com and www.flextimelawyers.com/best.asp.

Goodwin actively supports the development and retention of its attorneys through a number of efforts, including its firm-sponsored Women’s Initiative, a task force designed to maximize networking and career opportunities for women at the firm. The Goodwin Women’s Initiative provides an array of programs and support addressing such topics as professional development, training, career growth, business development and work/life effectiveness.

“The Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers 50 Best Law Firms for Women have led the way in creating new models for the rest of their profession in promoting women and developing more generous work life policies,” said Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media.  “These firms deserve recognition for working to improve women’s advancement and to equalize their compensation and access to business development."

“We’re honored to have been selected by Working Mother for inclusion in this pioneering group for the third time,” said Regina M. Pisa, Chairman of Goodwin Procter.  “This award recognizes the work of the many individuals who have contributed to the progress of the firm’s Women’s Initiative and encourages all of us to do even more in the future.”Pisa broke new ground in the legal industry when she became the first female chairman and managing partner of an Am Law 100 law firm in 1998.

All law firms with more than 50 attorneys were eligible to submit responses to detailed questions on the issues that are most important to the retention and promotion of female lawyers.  The 50 winning firms were selected based on factors that included their workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, and advancement and retention of women.
