Goodwin Advises WiTricity in IP Licensing Deal with Toyota

Goodwin Procter attorneys recently advised WiTricity, a pioneer in wireless power transfer, in its intellectual property license agreement with the Toyota Motor Corporation. According to the agreement, Toyota will use the technology to incorporate wireless charging capabilities into their rechargeable hybrid electric and battery operated vehicles.

WiTricity is the industry leader in wireless electricity delivered over distance, and holds foundational patents for highly resonant wireless power transfer. The company was founded in 2007 to commercialize the new technology for wireless electricity invented by physicists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). WiTricity’s clients include automotive, consumer electronic, medical device and defense companies around the world.
