Goodwin Procter, a leading Am Law 50 and Global 50 law firm, has been named as a “Best Law Firm for Women” by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers for the sixth consecutive year. The annual report, featured in the August/September issue of the magazine, recognizes 50 law firms from across the nation whose family-friendly policies and business development initiatives are helping to retain and advance female attorneys.

Goodwin actively supports the development, advancement and retention of its attorneys through a number of efforts, including its firm-sponsored Women’s Initiative, which maximizes networking and career opportunities for women at the firm. The Initiative provides mentorship and sponsorship opportunities and focuses on programming and support in areas including professional development, training, career growth, business development and work/life balance.

“Goodwin Procter is committed to advancing women attorneys and we are proud to once again be recognized by Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers,” commented David M. Hashmall, Chairman of Goodwin Procter. “From programming on business development and networking to sponsorship opportunities to flex schedules, the firm, and in particular our Women’s Initiative, consistently strives to support and enhance the career path for our female attorneys.”

Goodwin Procter was the first Am Law 100 law firm to be led by a woman, when Regina Pisa was elected Chairman and Managing Partner in 1998. She held the position of Chairman for 16 years and currently serves as Goodwin’s Chairman Emeritus.

Jennifer Owens, editorial director of Working Mother Media, said, “The 50 Best Law Firms for Women are setting and pushing forward the standard when it comes to retaining women--and advancing them to the very top, equity partnership. These firms are also committed to creating best practices that support working parents.”

The 50 Best Law Firms for Women survey was initiated in 2007 by Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers in order to recognize law firms that were successfully retaining and promoting women lawyers.
