Goodwin Procter attorneys recently advised The Hearst Corporation on its announced joint venture with The Georgetown Company to restore and redevelop the Herald Examiner Building in downtown Los Angeles. The landmark building, designed by architect Julia Morgan and built in 1914, is connected to both the South Park and Broadway Corridor neighborhoods.
The Hearst Corporation is one of the nation's largest diversified media and information companies. Its major interests include ownership of 15 daily and 34 weekly newspapers, hundreds of magazines around the world, 31 television stations, ownership in leading cable networks, significant holdings in automotive, electronics and medical/pharmaceutical business information companies, a majority stake in global ratings agency Fitch Group, Internet and marketing services businesses, television production, newspaper features distribution and real estate.
The Goodwin team working closely with Hearst’s Office of the General Counsel on the transaction included Los Angeles partners Chauncey Swalwell and Dean Pappas, San Francisco partner Kelsey Lemaster.
