Mark Schonberger Recognized for Pro Bono Work with Cornerstone Award

Goodwin real estate partner Mark Schonberger has been awarded the Cornerstone Award by the Lawyers Alliance for New York for his dedication to improving the quality of life for thousands of low-income New Yorkers. Schonberger is one of a select group of lawyers recognized by the Lawyers Alliance for New York in 2016.

Lawyers Alliance for New York is the leading provider of pro bono business and transactional legal services for nonprofit organizations addressing the needs of the people in New York City. Its network of pro bono lawyers from law firms and corporations helps nonprofits to develop affordable housing, stimulate economic development, promote community arts, strengthen urban health, and operate and advocate for vital programs for children and young people, the elderly, and other low-income New Yorkers.

Schonberger has provided corporate pro bono legal assistance to two New York nonprofit organizations. First, the Bedford Stuyvesant Gateway District Management Association, Inc., a nonprofit that manages the Bedford Stuyvesant Gateway Business Improvement District (BID) in Brooklyn, is focused on the health and safety of the community and on promoting the BID as a destination to live, shop and work. Second, Philanthropy New York, a nonprofit membership organization that serves as the principal professional community of philanthropic foundations based in the New York City region.

The Cornerstone Award Ceremony was held at Viacom on November 17, 2016.
