Goodwin Wins Chambers’ Women in Law Diversity Award

On June 15, at its annual Women in Law Awards in New York, Chambers named Goodwin “Most Innovative Gender Diversity Initiative” for its Brightspots Initiative.

Goodwin’s CHRO Heidi Goldstein Shepherd and partner Emily Rapalino were in attendance to accept the award.

Chambers’ Women in Law Awards champion the achievements of legal practitioners who have brought about dramatic improvements in gender equality, women’s advancement and inclusion in the legal profession. The awards seek to recognize these achievements, empower the people behind innovative women’s initiatives, and give greater visibility to gender diversity.

In 2015, Goodwin launched a bold Brightspots Initiative to combat unconscious bias of all types and to build even stronger and more inclusive teams. Through this and other Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, Goodwin is working to interrupt the hidden barriers that can prevent good teams from being great and to ensure that the firm is fair in all talent assessment.

Goodwin also nominated Nithya Das, a Goodwin alumna, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of client AppNexus and a Founders Workbench advisory board member, as an “Inspiring Role Model in Promoting Gender Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession.” Das was shortlisted for the award.
