Mr. Aldock represents law firms in various matters including in state and federal court litigation alleging professional malpractice. He also represents targeted lawyers before state grievance committees. In addition, Mr. Aldock serves as a mediator and arbitrator of national and international disputes. Previous to becoming General Counsel, Mr. Aldock’s nationwide practice focused on commercial litigation including class actions, mass torts, insurance, securities, commercial arbitration and business litigation.

John Aldock serves as General Counsel to Goodwin and chairs the firm’s Risk Management Committee.
Mr. Aldock is Chair of the Advisory Committee on Rules of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and a member of the Panel of Distinguished Neutrals (Washington, D.C.) of the CPR International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Aldock was chairman of Shea & Gardner prior to its combination with Goodwin in 2004. He served on the Executive Committee of Goodwin from 2005-2011. Following his judicial clerkship, Mr. Aldock served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1968-1971.
