Mr. Barclay primarily advises on the structuring and establishment of European and international private investment funds, including private equity, venture capital, mezzanine/debt, infrastructure and real estate funds, and related carried interest and management-focused corporate arrangements. In addition, he advises on various investor relations and ongoing fund operation matters and represents institutional investors investing in global and U.S. and other regional funds.
Mr. Barclay also advises on other investment-related matters in respect of real estate and other asset classes, including joint ventures, segregated accounts and investment management appointments, as well as on the establishment of pension funding partnerships.
Mr. Barclay is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and the American Bar Association. He is also a trustee of both Find Your Feet and Health Poverty Action, partner charities seeking to improve the lives of some of the poorest people in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Mr. Barclay was a senior associate in the investment funds group in the London office of Ashurst and in the Munich office of SJ Berwin. Mr. Barclay originally trained and practiced in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais.
