Greg Barclay is a partner in Goodwin’s Private Investment Funds group specialising in private equity and real estate fund matters. He is also a member of the firm's Impact and Responsible Investing practice.
Mr. Barclay primarily advises on the structuring and establishment of European and international private investment funds, including private equity, venture capital, mezzanine/debt, infrastructure and real estate funds, and related carried interest and management-focused corporate arrangements. In addition, he advises on various investor relations and ongoing fund operation matters and represents institutional investors investing in global and U.S. and other regional funds and on secondary transactions.
He also advises on other investment-related matters, including joint ventures, segregated accounts, co-investment vehicles and investment management appointments, as well as on the establishment of pension funding partnerships.
Mr. Barclay is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and the American Bar Association. Within the firm he is a member of the Steering Committee of the GLBT Initiative and co-chairs its Recruiting and Communications Sub-Committee, and outside the firm he is a trustee and the deputy chairperson of Find Your Feet, an anti-poverty charity working in Southern Africa and South Asia.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Mr. Barclay was a senior associate in the investment funds group in the London office of Ashurst and in the Munich office of SJ Berwin. Mr. Barclay originally trained and practiced in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais.
