Shannon Sweeney

Shannon Sweeney is a counsel in the firm's Real Estate, REITs & Real Estate Capital Markets Group. She focuses her real estate practice on joint ventures, financing and the acquisition and sale of industrial, multi-family and retail properties on behalf of pension funds and other tax-exempt investors, developers and institutional investors. Ms. Sweeney joined Goodwin in 1997.

Ms. Sweeney is a member of the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations and New England Women in Real Estate.

Professional Experience

Before attending law school, Ms. Sweeney worked as a legal assistant in Washington, D.C.


Ms. Sweeney was a staff member of the Journal of Law and Politics at the University of Virginia School of Law.

Areas of Practice


Ms. Sweeney's recent transactions include representation of a REIT as borrower for a $125 million construction loan; a tax-exempt investor in a joint venture formed for the purpose of acquiring hotels on the East Coast; and a tax-exempt investor in joint ventures to acquire multi-family properties on the West Coast.
