- Attorney Development
Our approach to attorney development both honors and transcends the traditional apprenticeship model. You can advance your career and hone your skills by working on increasingly challenging matters under the guidance of more experienced practitioners. We were one of the first firms in the country to dedicate full-time managers to allocate work assignments, delve into attorney performance management, and form strong relationships with individual attorneys to understand their professional development needs and long-term goals.

At Goodwin, we provide attorneys with the opportunity to be coached on a variety of topics, including confidence, executive presence, and career development, to help them reach peak performance in a sustainable way.
- Professional Development Allowance
Goodwin recognizes that not all professional development needs can be addressed by the firm. Goodwin provides a Professional Development Allowance for all associates second years and up and all professional track attorneys and Professional Enhancement Accounts for counsel and partners to support their individual professional development.
- Global Rotation Program
Just like study-abroad programs help college students expand their horizons, Goodwin believes that working across cultures and offices promotes collaboration and enhances learning for our attorneys. Our Global Rotation Program offers senior associates and counsel the chance to visit offices outside their home country for an extended period (typically 2-4 weeks). These visits help attorneys build their internal networks and gain insight into client relationships and deal flows across Goodwin’s global footprint.
