Judicial Clerks
As a judicial clerk, you have developed a unique perspective on the practice of law. At Goodwin we appreciate the skills and experience you bring to our firm. We offer a generous signing bonus for clerks who come to work with us – up to $50,000 for one-year federal judicial clerkships – and provide extensive training opportunities.
As a litigator here, you’ll do more than protect the interests of our business law clients. You will have opportunities to pursue additional cases that interest you, and to go after precedent-setting issues involving patent litigation, white collar crime, and products liability.
If you prefer business law, you’ll benefit from being at one of the nation’s leading firms in business law, with a cross-disciplinary approach to addressing our clients’ needs. The department is structured according to major practice areas, including core competency, strategic focus, and specialty practices.
JD / MBA
We appreciate the extra hard work involved in a dual graduate degree and are pleased to offer a signing bonus to first year JD/MBA associates who accept an offer with us. Whether you’re a JD/MBA, or still considering this option, we want you to know we think it’s a very smart business move.
An MBA program allows you to work collaboratively in teams and learn in an environment with people who aren’t lawyers. You’ll graduate with a better understanding of the intricacies between business and law.
With an MBA you are, of course, in a terrific position to practice business law. For JD/MBAs who go into business law, you’ll be well-supported here by people who appreciate your legal and business skills. You’ll have a number of different practice areas to choose from at any given time, including intellectual property, real estate, private equity, and others. We’ll provide you access to some of the most compelling and interesting work in business law.
JD/MBA’s who choose to become litigators will protect the interests of our business law clients – and much more. You will have opportunities to pursue cases that interest you, and to work on precedent-setting issues involving patent litigation, white collar crime, and products liability.

Summer Experience
A good program gives you the chance to use what you know. A great program allows you to stretch beyond what you know. Add to that some amazing opportunities to learn more about yourself, your colleagues, and the world around you, and you have an unforgettable summer experience – one that provides a real-world perspective about daily life in our law firm.
Our Asia Track program is designed for summer associates who have a particular interest in pursuing a legal career in Asia. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required. The Asia Track summer program involves spending eight to ten weeks in one of our U.S. offices and two to three weeks in our Hong Kong office.

Pro Bono
Very often those who most need legal representation can least afford to pay for it. Whether it’s guidance on housing, immigration, criminal defense or small business development, free and reliable legal counsel can make real and lasting changes in people’s lives and livelihoods. That’s why pro bono work is one of the cornerstones of our firm.
