Our London office recruits six trainees each year and offers a variety of training in our core practice areas including Tech & Life Sciences, Private Equity and Real Estate. Our size and continued growth allow us to offer trainees and associates increased responsibility and meaningful client contact from the outset. We work in small teams, which gives our lawyers the opportunity to work directly with, and be mentored by, senior colleagues, and to develop a network that will be an invaluable part of their future career development.

Training Contracts

Our objective is to see you transition over the two-year period from a talented law student to a confident, professional lawyer. You will have the opportunity to rotate in our practice areas: Finance, Funds, Tax, Private Equity, Real Estate and Technology & Life Sciences. This ensures you will have the widest exposure to our business while meeting the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

You will satisfy the contentious requirement by attending an external course. We provide Full Sponsorship of the GDL and LPC fees and £7,000 maintenance grant per year of study. 

We are currently accepting applications for training contracts to commence in September 2020. 

Who are we looking for:

  • Entrepreneurial, aspirational and driven candidates.
  • You need a minimum of a 2:1 degree (gained or predicted) and AAB at A Level (35 in IB equivalent).
  • We welcome applications from candidates at all universities in all degree disciplines.
  • You can apply at any stage in your university career, except during your first year at undergraduate level.

Vacation Scheme

We have up to 20 places available on our two summer Vacation Schemes, which will run in July 2019. We welcome applications from candidates at all universities in all degree disciplines. You can apply at any stage in your university career, except during your first year at undergraduate level.

At Goodwin we’ll help you acquire the skills you need to be a successful lawyer. The Vacation Scheme provides real insight into what it is like to train and work at Goodwin and it allows us to get to know you better.

You will witness first-hand the work we do for our clients by shadowing associates, attending client meetings, negotiations and business unit meetings. You will leave our programme with valuable mentors and a large professional and social network.
