Legal Careers in London
The key message that we emphasise to all of our Vacation Scheme students and trainees is that Goodwin supports those with aspirations, an entrepreneurial spirit and a belief that they can contribute to the firm’s growth.
As a future trainee, knowing why you want to enter a career in law is important. Equally important is starting your career at the right firm; one that goes beyond all expectations and offers opportunity and career development. Goodwin has proven to us and our colleagues that it is a firm which continues to strive to deliver exactly that.
Our London office recruits six trainees each year and offers a variety of training in our core practice areas including Tech & Life Sciences, Private Equity and Real Estate. Our size and continued growth allow us to offer trainees and associates increased responsibility and meaningful client contact from the outset. We work in small teams, which gives our lawyers the opportunity to work directly with, and be mentored by, senior colleagues, and to develop a network that will be an invaluable part of their future career development.
If you are interested in starting your career at Goodwin, we would encourage you to read on and to apply for a place on our Vacation Scheme.
Our objective is to see you transition over the two-year period from a talented law student to a confident, professional lawyer. You will have the opportunity to rotate in our practice areas: Finance, Funds, Tax, Private Equity, Real Estate and Technology & Life Sciences. This ensures you will have the widest exposure to our business while meeting the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
You will satisfy the contentious requirement by attending an external course. Full sponsorship of the GDL and LPC fees, GDL maintenance grant £8,000 and LPC maintenance grant £10,000 per year of study.
Who are we looking for:

Very often those who most need legal representation can least afford to pay for it. Whether it’s guidance on housing, immigration, criminal defense or small business development, free and reliable legal counsel can make real and lasting changes in people’s lives and livelihoods. That’s why pro bono work is one of the cornerstones of our firm.
