Kingsley Taft Joins Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston

BOSTON, June 22, 2004 — Goodwin Procter LLP today announced the addition of Kingsley L. Taft, Ph.D. to the firm’s Life Sciences, Technology & Emerging Companies, and Intellectual Property practices. He joins the firm as partner in its Boston office.

Taft represents pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device, companies in all aspects of their businesses and legal affairs, including general corporate matters, private financings, mergers and acquisitions, licensing and other business transactions. He often assists start-up, early-stage and later-stage private companies with their general corporate affairs.

In addition, he represents life sciences companies, both public and private, with complex licensing transactions, such as joint ventures, strategic alliances and R&D and commercialization collaborations that are common to the industry. Taft has an extensive science background in chemistry and biotechnology of direct relevance to the business and intellectual property issues faced by life science companies.

Taft has significant experience within the life sciences industry, in which he has represented private and public companies in matters ranging from private placements, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions to joint research and development collaborations, joint ventures, supply agreements and contract alliances.

Taft joins Goodwin Procter from Foley Hoag LLP. He earned his B.S. from Yale University, Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and J.D. from Harvard Law School.
