Goodwin Procter Names Two New Directors

BOSTON, Oct. 3, 2006 — Goodwin Procter LLP today announced the addition of two directors to its professional staff:  Marijane Benner Browne, Director of Lateral Partner Recruiting and Integration, and Anne Stemlar, Director of Information Resources.

Benner Browne will oversee all aspects of the firm's lateral partner recruitment. She joins Goodwin Procter from Bingham McCutchen, where she was a partner in the bank finance group, served as National Hiring Partner, co-headed the professional development programs and played integral roles in diversity and pro bono efforts. She currently serves as a trustee of Bowdoin College, Vice Chair of the Boston Lawyers Group and Co-Chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Public Service Committee. She received her J.D. (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School, was an editor of the Harvard Law Review and received her A.B. from Bowdoin College (summa cum laude).

Stemlar is responsible for overseeing Goodwin Procter's research and library information services. Prior to joining the firm, she spent 10 years with WilmerHale. Starting as a reference librarian in 1996, she eventually became that firm's Manager of Research Services, responsible for coordinating research training and research services across the firm's offices. She also held reference librarian positions at Peabody & Brown (now Nixon Peabody LLP) and Kasdorf, Lewis & Swietlik, SC. Stemlar is a frequent lecturer on legal research techniques and legal research training in law firms. She received her B.A. from The University of Iowa, her J.D. from Marquette University School of Law and an MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
