Goodwin Procter Honored With Cornerstone Award

BOSTON, Nov. 29, 2006 — Goodwin Procter LLP announced that the firm will be honored with the 2006 Cornerstone Award, given annually by the Lawyers Alliance of New York (LANY). Since 2001, 50 Goodwin Procter attorneys have dedicated more than 2,600 pro bono hours on behalf of 17 clients referred to the firm by LANY. As a result of the firm's significant work with LANY clients, the organization decided to distinguish the firm as a whole with this award.

Some of the LANY clients that Goodwin Procter has represented as part of its pro bono program include: a nonprofit organization which enables low income people to build assets by securing, improving and owning their homes and businesses; a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the expansion of quality literacy services throughout New York City by providing an array of services from teaching adult students, to providing information on literacy to legislators; and a nonprofit which works in partnership with area residents, local government and businesses to revitalize underserved neighborhoods by creating and preserving affordable housing and providing opportunities for homeownership education, financial assistance and community leadership.

Since its foundation in 1969, LANY has provided non-litigation legal services worth more than $100 million to 10,000 nonprofit organizations.
