Goodwin Procter Again Leads Placement Agent Rankings for PIPE Transactions Through Q3

Goodwin Procter, a national Am Law 50 firm, was the most active placement agent legal counsel for PIPE transactions through the end of the third quarter of 2012 according to Sagient Research Systems’ PlacementTracker and DealFlow’s PrivateRaise.

PlacementTracker’s recently released rankings listed Goodwin as the No. 1 placement agent counsel with 32 transactions totaling $936 million. And the firm ranked first on PrivateRaise’s league table, advising on 30 transactions totaling $928 million as placement agent legal counsel.

PrivateRaise also ranked Goodwin second in total dollars advised as placement agent legal counsel and ranked the firm in PrivateRaise’s top 10 in the number of placements advised as issuer legal counsel.

PIPE (private investment in public equity) transactions provide smaller and mid-sized public companies with a lower-cost and more efficient means of raising capital, when compared to more traditional forms of equity financing such as secondary offerings.

Attorneys in Goodwin Procter’s Securities & Corporate Finance, Technology Companies and Private Equity Practices actively represent a variety of issuers, investors, underwriters and placement agents in PIPE transactions and provide ongoing advice to clients as they access the capital markets to expand business, provide owner liquidity and achieve long-term business objectives.
