Recognizing 15 years of unwavering pro bono support, the Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC) honored Goodwin at its annual Shining Star Gala in Boston on September 28. Managing Partner Rob Insolia accepted the VRLC's Champion Award on behalf of the firm.
In his brief remarks, Insolia praised the organization's critical mission of serving the legal needs of rape and sexual assault victims, recalled Goodwin's hosting about a dozen people at the group's first Shining Star Gala in 2003 (in sharp contrast to the 500 in attendance at this year’s event) and recognized fellow honoree Gloria Steinem and VRLC Executive Director Stacy Malone.
Brenda Sharton, who began representing the VRLC in 2002 and currently serves as co-chair of its board, told the Boston Herald that Goodwin "is so proud of our partnership with VRLC. Right now this [work] is more important than ever, and it's among the most rewarding work in my career."
