Goodwin Highly Ranked In Chambers Asia-Pacific 2021

Chambers Asia-Pacific has recognized the firm and its lawyers for excellence across numerous practice areas. Several Goodwin partners were named as leading lawyers in the guide’s 2021 edition, and five practice areas were singled out for distinction.

Chambers ranked Goodwin’s Corporate / M&A: Private Equity (Asia-Pacific) practice, praising it as “extremely responsive” with the ability to “navigate complicated problems with a commercial mindset,” as well as the firm’s Private Equity: Buyouts & Venture Capital Investment (China) practice, which was called a “growing team that regularly acts for prominent global funds.” The guide also ranked Goodwin in the Corporate / M&A (India) category, stating the firm is skilled “at handling onshore Indian transactions” due to “incredible expertise.”

This year, Chambers ranked Goodwin in two new categories. The guide ranked Goodwin’s Investment Funds: Private Equity practice in both the Asia-Pacific region and China, quoting a client as saying, “The expertise on fund formation matters is of a high level; the team is particularly good on international transactions” and is “pragmatic” and “close to the pulse of the market.”

Among the lawyers, Hong Kong office chair Yash Rana was recognized for Corporate / M&A (India) and Private Equity: Buyouts & Venture Capital Investment (China), with the guide noting that he is a “fantastic relationship partner” who is “always available” and gets clients “what they need when they need it.”

Partner Douglas Freeman was recognized for Private Equity: Buyouts & Venture Capital Investment (China), where he was noted for being “highly experienced and responsive,” and providing “great commercially sound insights and value-added advice.”

Partner Victor Chen was ranked for Private Equity: Buyouts & Venture Capital Investment (China), with the guide highlighting his ability to advise “funds on both domestic and cross-border investments and acquisitions” across sectors.

Partner Wendy Pan was ranked for Life Sciences (China), stating that she “offers expertise in a broad range of matters,” and clients find her “very knowledgeable about industry standard provisions and risks associated with different approaches.”

Partner Gregory Barclay was ranked for Investment Funds (China), praising him for having “special insights for supporting an international product with global investor base.”
