Professionals

Financial News has named London partner Ravi Chopra a 2021 Rising Star in European Private Equity. Ravi was one of only two lawyers selected for this year’s list, which highlights up and coming executives in the buyout sector who have led the resurgence in dealmaking since the start of the pandemic.

Ravi is a member of Goodwin’s Private Investment Funds team, where he specializes in structuring private capital vehicles across real assets, private equity, and technology and life sciences. He acts extensively on investor negotiations, co-investment platforms, house incentivization arrangements and secondaries transactions at house, fund and portfolio investment level. He is also an integral part of Goodwin’s rapidly expanding Impact and Responsible Investing group, advising on strategies that seek to maximize returns while addressing wider stakeholder concerns and socioeconomic impact.

Financial News praised Ravi for his “diverse practice that covers the full range of secondaries transactions,” “unique preferred equity expertise and focus on complex, innovative cross-border deals.” It also highlighted his vital role as the lead lawyer advising Palamon Capital Partners on a transaction that introduced €105 million of preferred equity financing into a “mature portfolio across its third private equity fund — the first transaction of its type in Europe.”

Ravi was recently named a Private Equity Rising Star by Legal Week. He was also recognized in Legal 500 UK across Real Estate Funds and Private Funds, where client testimonials have noted his “outstanding technical skillset,” “sound commercial advice” and “solutions-oriented approach.”
