Crystal A. Komm is a counsel in the firm’s Business Law department and a member of its Intellectual Property Strategies & Transactions group. She joined Goodwin in 2012.

Experience

Crystal concentrates her practice in the area of intellectual property with a focus on patent prosecution and patent portfolio development. She has drafted and prosecuted numerous US patent applications and also has extensive experience pursuing patent protection for her clients in foreign countries. Her technical expertise lies in the life sciences, including the biotechnology and medical device fields. For example, she has prosecuted patent applications relating to medical diagnostic assays, blood coagulation disorders, diagnostic reagents, cell matrices, candidate drug screening technology, synthetic enzymes, tissue engineering, food supplements, structural proteins, recombinant antibodies, immunologic proteins, cancer treatments, ion-selective electrodes, and devices for repairing defects of the heart and other organ systems. She also has experience obtaining design patent protection for her clients.

Beyond patent prosecution, Crystal routinely advises clients on a wide range of patent related issues including patent infringement, invalidity and patentability, including providing written and oral opinions.
