Annaka Nava is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice at Goodwin. Ms. Nava has experience representing industry-leading companies in patent litigation matters covering a variety of technology areas, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, computer technology (hardware and software), semiconductor devices, and Wi-Fi location services.

Experience

Ms. Nava has represented both plaintiffs and defendants at all stages of complex patent litigations in district courts and at the United States International Trade Commission (ITC). Selected engagements and areas of interest include:

  • Representing global pharmaceutical companies in all stages of ANDA litigations.
  • Representing a top university as a plaintiff in a patent litigation suit involving medical device patents. The case ended with a nine-figure settlement in favor of the university.* 
  • Representing a Boston-based technology company as a plaintiff against a tech giant in a patent litigation suit involving Wi-Fi location patents. The case ended with a settlement on the eve of trial.*
  • Defending a leading multinational navigation technology company in a patent infringement suit involving software patents. The client received a favorable jury verdict of non-infringement.*
  • Representing a leading technology company in multiple investigations in the ITC as both complainant and respondent with favorable outcomes.*
  • Representing a medical technology innovator as a plaintiff in a patent infringement suit involving diagnostic patents.*

Professional Activities

Prior to joining Goodwin, Ms. Nava was a patent litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Tensegrity Law Group. Ms. Nava also has experience as in-house Intellectual Property Counsel for a biotechnology and life sciences investment firm.

Prior to practicing law, Ms. Nava conducted scientific research on the genetics of breast cancer at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
