Sebastian Bruchwitz is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Industry group and Private Investment Funds practice. He also co-chairs the global ESG + Impact practice. Sebastian focuses his practice on investment funds, advising asset managers, sponsors, fund advisers, financial investors, and financial institutions on the structuring, fund formation, and distribution of German and international funds as well as secondaries. He also represents regulated and unregulated institutional investor clients relating to their investment in private funds. In addition, Sebastian advises clients in matters relating to asset management M&A, primarily in the investment management and insurance sectors.
Sebastian regularly acts for clients investing in all major alternative asset classes, including real estate equity/debt, private equity/debt, aircraft/rolling stock, infrastructure, and renewable energy. He also provides advice on the eligibility of investments in respect of the German Investment Ordinance (Anlageverordnung), Solvency II and CRR.

Professional Experience
Prior to joining Goodwin, Sebastian was most recently a national partner in the financial regulation group at Dechert LLP in Frankfurt. He began his legal career as funds lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Düsseldorf. He then went in-house to a boutique alternative investment fund manager with a focus on real assets before moving back into private practice at White & Case LLP in Düsseldorf. He then moved to the investment funds team at Linklaters LLP in Frankfurt before joining Dechert.
Sebastian was also previously seconded to the legal department of a German regulated asset management company (Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft).
