Alex Fisher

Alex Fisher is a partner in Goodwin’s Employment practice. He advises clients on issues in all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment law. He also regularly counsels clients on the employment law aspects of corporate disposals and acquisitions.

Alex represents a variety of clients across a wide range of sectors. His extensive experience includes advising on large and small scale restructuring and redundancy processes, running investigations into employee complaints and whistleblowing allegations, executive exits and other employee dismissals, litigation in the Employment Tribunal and High Court, and restrictive covenant and confidentiality breach enforcement action. He has particular experience advising clients on employment aspects of setting up and establishing businesses in the UK and leading on employment issues on corporate transactions including TUPE and multi-jurisdictional share and asset transactions.

Alex’s representative experience includes:

• Advising a large multi-jurisdictional corporation on the enforceability of employment terms across eleven different jurisdictions 
• Advising a client on its strategy and defense against an Employment Tribunal claim allegations of whistleblowing and discrimination and questions of territorial jurisdiction and employment status
• Advising a US technology company client on the enforceability of restrictive covenant arrangements
• Advising on the UK employment aspects involved with the sale of a cloud-based storage technology provider
• Advising a multi-jurisdictional medical technology company client on the termination of an executive
• Advising on employment issues for multiple start up businesses in the tech sector
• Advising a client in the biomedical sector on changes to its leadership team
• Advising on a large-scale restructuring and redundancy project involving multi-site redundancy consultation
• Advising on a high value matter in the financial services sector involving breaches of confidentiality and the enforcement of post-termination restrictions*
• Leading a multi-jurisdictional project putting in place global employment contracts, handbooks, and policies*
• Advising a PLC on its investigation and resulting dismissal of its CEO*
• Defending a valuable discrimination and whistleblowing claim successfully for a client in the technology sector*
• Carrying out an investigation into allegations of discrimination for a client in the sport sector*
