The Neighborhood Business Initiative (NBI) is a program founded and run by Goodwin to bring business and legal services to entrepreneurs and small-business owners in Greater Boston, New York and California, who are members of underserved communities, or whose businesses positively impact underserved neighborhoods.
The Initiative's primary activities are to provide, on a pro bono basis, legal resources, workshops and clinics in underserved urban neighborhoods, as well as one-on-one direct pro bono representation.
NBI is led by a committee of Goodwin partners, associates and professional staff.
Over the last 14+ years Goodwin has had the privilege to work with community partners – companies, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies who share our commitment to community development and neighborhood businesses.
The mission of the Neighborhood Business Initiative, a pro bono project of Goodwin, is to provide pro bono business legal services to low-income entrepreneurs and small business owners in underserved neighborhoods through direct representation and neighborhood-based legal workshops and clinics and by partnering with community-based organizations.
