John Hunt Joins Goodwin Procter’s Investment Management Practice as Senior Counsel

BOSTON, May 20, 2008 – Goodwin Procter announced today that John Hunt has joined the firm as senior counsel and member of the Investment Management Practice. Hunt, who began his career as an associate at Goodwin Procter, counsels mutual funds, private investment funds, offshore funds, and U.S. and non-U.S. investment advisers in a wide range of transactions.

“We are delighted to welcome John back to Goodwin Procter,” said Philip H. Newman, partner in the firm’s Business Law Department and chair of the firm’s Investment Management Practice. “He has represented a variety of investment management institutions on both corporate and regulatory matters, and his expertise will be invaluable to our clients.”

Prior to rejoining Goodwin Procter, Hunt negotiated for several U.S. asset managers in their strategic distribution partnerships in Switzerland, Chile, Peru and Japan; assisted various U.S. and Canadian-based banks and investors in their acquisitions in the financial services sector; and developed the plan that allowed one of Europe’s largest asset managers to spin-out offshore distribution from its European and U.S. operations. Previously, he was of counsel at Bingham McCutchen in Boston. He also served as general counsel of IXIS Asset Management Global Associates. Admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Hunt is a member of the International, American and Boston Bar Associations.
