On March 20, Goodwin partner Brenda Sharton, a Boston College Law School alumna, received the Boston College Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) Curtin Award for Public Service at the 24th annual PILF Auction. PILF President Cristina Fernandez noted Sharton's “truly commendable” commitment to public service throughout her career, particularly her work with the Victim Rights Law Center, which provides pro bono legal representation to victims of rape and sexual assault. For more than a decade, Sharton has provided pro bono legal assistance to VRLC clients and currently serves as Co-Chair of its Board of Directors.
PILF organizes the annual auction fundraiser to provide summer stipends for law students working at legal aid, nonprofit and other public interest law organizations. PILF’s Curtin Award honors a member of the Boston College Law School community who embodies the school’s mission of serving the public.
