Goodwin Procter Advises Ritz-Carlton on Landmark Kazakhstan Hotel and Branded Residential Development

Goodwin Procter advised The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company on the structuring and negotiating of long-term governance and operating agreements for a new Ritz-Carlton luxury hotel and branded residential project in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The hotel opened for operation on November 2, 2013.

The hotel and branded residential components are part of an approximately US$1.5 billion mixed-use development by international real estate developer, Capital Partners, which also includes a shopping mall, commercial office space and unbranded residential complexes. The approximately 25 branded residential units are located directly above the hotel on the upper floors of Esentai Tower, the highest building in Almaty.

Almaty - the largest city in Kazakhstan and its former capital – is the country’s main commercial and cultural center.

Goodwin Procter’s team was led from London by Matthew Pohlman with assistance from Mary McQuinn.
