Goodwin Procter partner Stuart Cable was recently named a Top 50 Global M&A Lawyer at the annual Global Major Markets M&A Atlas Awards in New York City. Cable was recognized for his ongoing deal activity, including his work advising Onyx Pharmaceuticals in its $10.4 billion sale to Amgen. The Onyx/Amgen transaction was named 2014 Global Major Markets Pharma & Medical Devices Deal of the Year at the awards. On June 5, 2014, former Onyx CEO Tony Coles joined Cable at Goodwin’s annual Directors Forum for a discussion on the intricacies of Onyx’s multi-billion transaction and what directors need to consider when selling a company.

The M&A Atlas Awards, bestowed by Global M&A Network, recognize top dealmakers and transactions from the global merger and acquisition community. The winning dealmakers, selected independently based on identifiable deal performance metrics, were featured for closing “the best value-generating and game-changing transformational transactions.”

Cable is chair of M&A/Corporate Finance for Goodwin’s Technology & Life Sciences Group and leads the firm’s Asia expansion initiative. His additional recent deals include advising Eloqua in its $1 billion sale to Oracle, and Centerview Partners as financial advisor to Idenix in its $3.85 billion acquisition by Merck.
