Joe Conder

Joe Conder, a partner in Goodwin’s Real Estate Group, focuses his practice on all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including sales and purchases of high value investment properties, real estate development funding, real estate financing transactions and real estate sale and leaseback transactions. He has significant experience representing ultra-high net worth managers, sovereign wealth funds and open-ended funds and has helped a number of international funds, including those based in Europe, the U.S., Asia and the Middle East, to invest in UK real estate.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Goodwin in 2012, Mr. Conder was a partner with Linklaters, serving as head of its UK investment team and co-head of its global real estate sector group.

Areas of Practice


Mr. Conder’s recent matters include representing:

  • Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management’s Grundbesitz Europa open-ended real estate fund on its £327 million sale of Tower Place in London to Ping An Life Insurance, China’s second-largest insurer
  • Kennedy Wilson Europe Real Estate plc on the £204 million acquisition of 111 Buckingham Palace Road, SW1 – a 227,000 sq ft landmark, Grade A building is located near Victoria station in London
  • Credit Suisse Asset Management Immobilien on the £142 million sale of Plantation Place South, a prime multi-let office building in the City of London
  • A Southeast Asian state pension fund in the £210 million acquisition of 88 Wood Street in the City of London from a Far Eastern state pension fund
  • A Southeast Asian investor in the £155 million purchase of a 50% interest in three UK retail parks anchored by Tesco superstores
  • Credit Suisse Asset Management in the sale of The Corn Exchange, an office building in the City Of London, for £90 million
  • U.S. REIT Medical Properties Trust in the acquisition and leaseback of 11 medical rehabilitation clinics in Germany for €175 million
  • Workspace in the £51 million sale of The Biscuit Factory, an office/studio complex in Southwark, London, and in the acquisition of an office building in London’s Midtown
  • GreenOak Real Estate Advisors in its acquisition of Allen House, a large residential building in Kensington, London 
  • Qatari real estate company Barwa in the £500 million purchase and development funding of Park House, Oxford Street, London W1*
  • RREEF in UK acquisitions for its German open and spezial funds totaling approximately £1 billion
  • German fund SEB in a programme of UK investment purchases and sales including the sale of One Threadneedle Street in the City of London for £63 million, one of the key UK investment transactions of 2012
  • Malaysian fund EPF in its first UK acquisition, the £156 million acquisition of One Sheldon Square , London W2*
  • Istithmar, the investment arm of Dubai World, in its £500 million+ UK investment programme including the acquisitions of two of London’s most prestigious office buildings, the Adelphi on the Strand and Grand Buildings in Trafalgar Square, and their subsequent sales*
