J. Todd Hahn

Todd Hahn is a counsel in the firm's Litigation Department and a member of its Antitrust + Competition Practice. Mr. Hahn joined Goodwin in 1992. His practice focuses on merger notification and merger control issues in the United States, the European Union, and numerous other jurisdictions, defense of Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission antitrust investigations, and complex commercial litigation.


Mr. Hahn has substantial experience representing clients in a variety of merger and nonmerger matters before the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice. He regularly counsels clients on the competitive implications of mergers and acquisitions, and strategies for obtaining regulatory clearance and premerger notification under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act and international merger control laws and regulations. Mr. Hahn’s practice has involved mergers and acquisitions in a number of manufacturing and service industries, including pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, financial/brokerage services, national defense, healthcare services, and consumer products.

In addition to his antitrust practice, Mr. Hahn has represented clients in litigation in federal and state courts involving shareholder appraisals, intellectual property, and contract matters.

Professional Activities

Mr. Hahn was formerly an elected member of the Representative Town Meeting of Greenwich, Connecticut.

Professional Experience

Mr. Hahn has served as a special assistant district attorney for Middlesex County in Massachusetts.


While attending law school, he served as notes and comments editor of the Emory Law Journal.
