Laura Stoll is a partner in the firm’s Financial Industry and Consumer Financial Services Litigation practices. Laura specializes in complex commercial litigation matters, with particular emphasis on financial services litigation and class action defense. She joined Goodwin in 2011.

Professional Activities

Ms. Stoll is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Bar Association and American Bar Association.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Goodwin, Ms. Stoll was an associate in the Los Angeles office of Sidley Austin LLP. Ms. Stoll served as a law clerk to the Honorable George H. King of the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California, and as an extern to the Honorable Thomas B. Donavan in the Bankruptcy Court of the Central District of California.


While attending law school, Ms. Stoll was the executive editor for the UCLA Law Review.



Areas of Practice


Ms. Stoll has represented sophisticated clients in a variety of disputes, including financial services litigation, product liability actions, and consumer class actions.

Ms. Stoll’s financial services practice includes representation of financial institutions in class action cases involving home mortgage loans, loan servicing, and other financial services. These cases typically arise under both state and federal laws, including the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedure Act (RESPA), the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and the Fair Housing Act (FHA), as well as state unfair and deceptive acts and practices laws (UDAP) and common law. Ms. Stoll also represented a foreign bank in a litigation involving allegations of fraud and violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

Ms. Stoll has also defended major pharmaceutical companies in product liability actions. She has worked on a variety of other complex commercial litigation matters and business disputes, including contract disputes, business torts, trade secrets, and California Business and Professions Code section 17200 class actions.
