David W. Van Horne, Jr.

David Van Horne, a partner in Goodwin's Technology Companies Group, focuses his practice on representing emerging growth companies throughout all phases of their lifecycle. He has extensive experience with corporate formation and governance matters, venture capital financing and M&A transactions. He also represents venture capital funds, structuring investment transactions that range from seed through growth stage.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Goodwin in 2013, Mr. Van Horne was a partner in the Silicon Valley office of Gunderson Dettmer.


Mr. Van Horne has been selected for inclusion in California Super Lawyers-Rising Stars Edition for his work with Silicon Valley technology companies. In law school, he was a member of the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review.

Areas of Practice


Mr. Van Horne represents leading venture capital firms as well as a wide range of technology companies, both public and private, in the consumer Internet, software and entertainment technology industries.  His recent clients have included August Capital, Accel Partners, Kleiner Perkins, NJOY, ForeScout Technologies, Livefyre, RetailNext, DotNetNuke and Zozi.
