Mike’s regulatory product work covers mortgage loans, small business loans, merchant cash advances, factoring, payments, credit cards, student loans, deposits, auto loans, personal loans and digital currencies. His regulatory service work centers on third-party service providers that touch these products, including settlement service providers, subservicers, debt collectors, credit reporting agencies, escrow companies, brokers, lead generators, information aggregators and API developers. Mike’s transactional practice crisscrosses his product and service work, including advising on regulatory due diligence on M&A financial institution deals, bank partnership agreements for FinTech companies, buying and selling pools of loans and receivables, and subservicing arrangements for marketplace lending platforms.
Mike Whalen, a partner in the firm’s Technology Group and co-leader of the firm’s FinTech Practice, has a full-service practice counselling on the regulatory and transactional aspects of consumer and small business financial products and services. He advises both traditional and emerging financial institutions.
