Firm continues expansion of its intellectual property litigation practice Prominent attorney Ethan Horwitz join as partner
BOSTON, June 24, 2002 – Goodwin Procter LLP today announced that it has added four attorneys to the litigation department in its New York office, including two partners and two associates. Ethan Horwitz joins the firm as partner and specializes in intellectual property litigation.
Horwitz has more than 25 years of experience in litigating within the full range of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright, and false advertising cases both in the U.S. and internationally. He has represented such companies J.P. Morgan Chase, Polo Ralph Lauren, IBM, Pepperidge Farm, Lotus, Kraft, and Oscar Mayer.
Horwitz is the author and/or editor of three prominent treatises in the intellectual property field, which include Patent Litigation: Procedures and Tactics, World Trademark Law and Practice, and Intellectual Property Counseling and Litigation, all multi-volume works published by Matthew Bender & Co. In addition, he is listed in Euromoney's "Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Experts" and "Guide to the World' Leading Experts in Trademark Law." He will co-chair the firm’s intellectual property practice.

Last spring, Goodwin Procter expanded its New York office by acquiring the law firm Schneck Weltman & Hashmall, thereby expanding its products liability and mass tort litigation practices. At the same time, the firm added several partners to its intellectual property litigation practice in New York. The firm now has a total of 69 attorneys in its New York office.
All four attorneys join the firm from Darby & Darby P.C., where they held similar positions. Horwitz received his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law, The associates joining Goodwin Procter are Kandis Kahn and Patricia Wick.
