BOSTON, March 2, 2004 — Goodwin Procter LLP today announced that Allison V. Friend will join the firm in the newly-created position of Chief Human Resources Officer.
In this role, Allison will work closely with firm management to create a best-in-class organizational support structure, leveraging the skills of the firm’s administrative directors and bringing new resources to firmwide initiatives. Allison will also be responsible for developing and implementing a firmwide human resources strategy for lawyers, paralegals, and support staff.
Friend joins the firm from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where she was corporate counsel for its employment law group, as well as the manager of human resources for the National Group Market business unit. In this role, she was responsible for the direction and delivery of human resources strategy in multiple offices; advising senior management on organizational issues; assisting in the development of operational strategy for the business unit and its departments; and designing and implementing diversity initiatives. Prior to Liberty Mutual, Friend was an associate at Goodwin Procter in the firm’s Labor & Employment practice.
Allison earned her J.D. from George Washington University and her B.A. from the University of Michigan.
