President Obama has selected Lisa Brown as White House Staff Secretary. In this role, Lisa will manage the flow of information, advice and decision-making between staff members and the President. Prior to accepting this position, Lisa served as Co-Chair of the Agency Review Working Group for the Obama-Biden Transition Project.
Lisa has a broad range of political and legal experience. She served as Counsel to Vice President Gore from September 1999 through January 2001, and as Deputy Counsel from April 1997 through August 1999. She also served on the Executive Board of the President's Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities; worked in the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice; was a partner at the D.C. law firm of Shea & Gardner (now Goodwin Procter); and clerked on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals for the Honorable John C. Godbold. While serving as Co-Chair of the Agency Review Working Group, Lisa took leave from her role as Executive Director of the American Constitution Society, a progressive legal organization.
