Goodwin Procter is pleased to announce that firm chairman Regina Pisa has been elected to serve as Chair of the Simmons College Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2014.
Pisa is the first woman to lead an AmLaw 100 law firm in the United States, serving as Goodwin’s chairman since 1998, and also as its managing partner until 2012. Under her leadership, the firm has more than doubled in size to over 850 lawyers serving clients from eight locations in the United States, Europe and Asia. The American Lawyer recently recognized Pisa as one of the “Top 50 Big Law Innovators of the Past 50 Years.”
Recognized as a pioneer in advancing leadership for women in the legal and business communities, Pisa has used her position to dismantle gender and cultural stereotypes, and to facilitate mentorship, business development training and work/life balance for women at Goodwin and in the legal industry.
Pisa has been closely associated with Simmons College for more than 30 years. She began representing the College as its legal counsel in 1984 and has served on its Board of Trustees since 1999. In 2008, she was the commencement speaker for the MBA graduates of the Simmons School of Management.
Her career-long association with Simmons has made Pisa committed to its future growth. “I am passionate about Simmons’ mission to prepare women for leadership at all levels, particularly at the undergraduate level, and am honored to have been asked to lead the Board of Trustees at this very exciting time in its history,” said Pisa.
Simmons is a nationally recognized private university located in Boston. It offers undergraduate education for women, and renowned coeducational graduate programs in health sciences, liberal arts, social work, and library and information science; as well as the nation's first MBA program designed specifically for women.
