Michael R. Caplan Recognized for Building Client Relationships

Goodwin Chief Operating Officer Michael R. Caplan was recently named North American Operations Executive of the Year by Best in Biz Awards, an independent business awards program judged by journalists and industry analysts.

Caplan was recognized for his focus on helping to develop and transform Goodwin’s client relationships into strategic partnerships, where both the practice of law and the business of law are leveraged for the benefit of the client.

“Goodwin’s professional staff represents a key differentiator in driving client service,” said Caplan. “Our operations team has been engaged with our partners in creating revenue opportunities for the firm across all industry sectors and across all geographies.”

Financial Times has also cited Goodwin’s client relationship efforts, naming the firm one of North America’s most innovative. In an article he wrote for the New York Law Journal, Caplan explains how partnering with clients can be a true differentiator for law firms.

The Best in Biz Awards are bestowed annually from a panel of judges that have included journalists from the Associated Press, Fast Company, Financial Times, Forbes, Reuters, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Wired.

“You study the entries in the Executive of the Year category and you start to think, ‘These aren’t just executives, these are magicians,’” said Dale Dauten, author and columnist for King Features Syndicate, who has judged every Best in Biz Awards competition since the program’s inception in 2011.

Past winners of the organization’s Executive of the Year award have included officers from Aflac, AT&T, Citrix, Dell, Dyson, Eastman, Ernst & Young, Hilton, Microsoft, Sheraton, StubHub, and Wells Fargo.
