Goodwin senior associate Daniel Isaacs has been named a 2022 Up & Coming Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. The annual award recognizes the rising stars of the Massachusetts legal industry who have been practicing for 10 years or less and have distinguished themselves professionally and in the community.

Isaacs’ practice focuses on advising emerging companies and investors throughout the corporate life cycle, including pre-incorporation planning and formation, venture capital and growth equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and general corporate representation and counseling. He represents clients in a variety of technology and life sciences industries, including digital health and healthcare, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cybersecurity, Fintech, blockchain and digital currency, new media, e-commerce, software, hardware, biotech, medical devices and diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals.

Among his standout work over the past year, Isaacs represented long-time client BitSight in connection with a new partnership with Moody’s and its acquisition of VisibleRisk; Fincura in connection with its sale to digital lending platform Numerated; and Mavrck in its $120 million growth capital investment from Summit Partners.

Isaacs also continued to set himself apart through innovation and creativity in the everchanging cryptocurrency sector. He has developed novel “Node Transactions” that have been widely adopted by other practitioners for launching and growing cryptocurrency and digital asset networks. He has also helped to establish original “employee incentive vehicle” structures, and further expanded options for his clients through an original token rights offering that multiple digital asset companies have used to raise capital.

In the community, Isaacs is a leader of Goodwin’s signature pro bono project, the Neighborhood Business Initiative (NBI), serving on its Steering and Intake Committees. In this capacity, he has advised over 100 small businesses through clinics and direct representation, and continues to help ensure that clients in need receive pro bono representation. Founded in 2001, the mission of Goodwin’s Neighborhood Business Initiative is to promote equity and support wealth creation in communities that face discrimination based on race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender and/or sexual orientation by providing pro bono legal services to entrepreneurs and small business owners who are members of, or whose businesses positively impact, such communities.
