Goodwin partner Jaime Santos has been named to DCA Live’s Emerging Women Leaders in Law 2022. This award honors outstanding female lawyers in the Washington, DC area who are “emerging as leaders within their firms and the broader DC legal community.”
Santos is a partner in Goodwin’s Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation practice. Her work focuses on appellate matters and complex civil litigation in federal courts, with extensive experience litigating ERISA, intellectual property, constitutional, and product cases. Santos has presented oral argument in more than a dozen cases and authored or co-authored dozens of briefs filed in the Supreme Court. She also maintains an active pro bono practice and has received awards from Goodwin and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights for her commitment to pro bono civil rights work.
In addition to her practice, Santos serves on the MacArthur Justice Center Supreme Court & Appellate Advisory Board and the National Women’s Law Center’s Leadership Advisory Council. A thought leader in addressing bias and harassment in the legal profession, Santos has testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Judicial Conference of the U.S. about the need for stronger anti-harassment measures within the federal judiciary, and worked with state and federal judiciaries across the country to help reform their harassment policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms. She has also played a critical role in Goodwin’s diversity and inclusion initiatives and prioritizes promoting and advancing lawyers from underrepresented backgrounds, including by mentoring junior lawyers and law students through The Appellate Project’s mentorship program.
Santos has previously been recognized for excellence by Corporate Counsel’s Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards, Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under Hot List, Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation, The Legal 500 United States, and as a Rising Star by Law360.
Santos and the other honorees will be celebrated during an awards ceremony on May 5.
