Daily Journal has named partner Jennifer Fisher to its list of Top Women Lawyers in California for 2022. The annual series recognizes elite women lawyers in the state who have achieved significant victories for clients, given back to their communities and are considered leaders in their respective fields.
Fisher is co-chair of Goodwin’s Cannabis practice and a partner in the firm’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. She is known as the go-to legal advisor for all types of cannabis companies, from large multi-state operators to emerging startups. Fisher also represents some of the leading investors in the space, as well as ancillary businesses providing products and services to cannabis companies. Fisher advises cannabis clients on strategic business decisions and transactions, regulatory compliance and litigation matters.
An industry-wide leader, Fisher has previously been recognized as a Leading Lawyer for Cannabis by The Legal 500 United States and was named to The National Law Journal’s Cannabis Law Trailblazers, The American Lawyer’s Trailblazers West and Cannabis Law Report’s Global Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers. In 2019, Fisher was selected as the Cannabis Lawyer of the Year by the Cannabis Dealmakers Summit in recognition of the quality of legal service she provides to clients and the leadership role she has taken in the industry.
Fisher’s practice also focuses on representing companies and individuals involved in government investigations and regulatory enforcement matters. She was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for her work in Criminal Defense White-Collar in both 2022 and 2021, and was named as a Recommended Lawyer by The Legal 500 United States in 2021 for White Collar and Criminal Defense.
Committed to the advancement of women and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, Fisher co-founded Women Leaders in Cannabis, a professional networking organization for women entrepreneurs, executives and investors. She also has formed a partnership between Goodwin and the Last Prisoner Project (LPP), a nonprofit dedicated to criminal justice reform and assisting nonviolent cannabis offenders in securing release from incarceration and creating pathways to employment within the legal cannabis industry.
Due to her longstanding commitment to pro bono legal work and community service, Fisher has been honored for outstanding pro bono service by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco Volunteer Legal Services Program.
