Goodwin hired Jon Olsen, a San Diego-based partner, for its Technology M&A practice. Olsen, who represents strategic acquirers and investors, filled in a particular leadership gap for Goodwin in Southern California. “We’ve focused in the last three years on expanding our Southern California practice, opening in Santa Monica to complement our Los Angeles office,” Simons said to Law.com. “During the course of the pandemic, our Santa Monica office expanded significantly, but we didn’t have a senior leader in our technology M&A practice.” Olsen said that he was drawn to Goodwin’s ”robust life cycle practice” in tech and life sciences and No. 1 standing in global M&A deal volume. The ability to “tap into specialized resources” as tech and life sciences industries converge is a huge advantage, he added.
