Matthew Billeci is an associate in Goodwin’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group.
Matthew represents corporations in complex litigation and government investigations. He has experience in a wide variety of litigation, including commercial disputes, consumer class actions, cybersecurity and data privacy, and government enforcement actions. He has experience in all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings and pretrial motions, conducting factual investigation and discovery, and preparing for trial.
Matthew has defended numerous class actions asserting claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), and other statutory and common law doctrines. In addition to his litigation experience, Matthew represents clients in responding to government investigations and enforcement actions, including from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and state regulators and prosecutors.
Matthew was part of a trial team that received the Daily Journal’s “Top Defense Verdict” of the year in California in defense of one of the largest data breach cases ever to proceed to trial. Matthew has also successfully prevailed as a first-chair trial attorney on behalf of a major credit reporting agency.
