Andrew Contreras joined Goodwin in 2021. He is the firm’s Attorney Development Manager for business law junior associates in the New York office. He is responsible for managing staffing, helping associates realize individualized professional development goals, and strategizing with firm leadership to ensure professional development goals align with business and client-service objectives. He collaborates with the Professional Development and Training Team on executive skill and substantive legal training for junior attorneys and the DEI Team on key diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Andrew also conducts local Fall New Associate Orientation programming, onboards and integrates other new junior attorney hires, coaches juniors on practice-related concerns, and helps administer the performance evaluation process. Additionally he assists with leading and promoting attorney well-being initiatives including a U.S. firmwide junior associate wellness series he played an instrumental role in creating.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Andrew had his own coaching and consulting business specializing in guiding lawyers and other leaders on organizational management, talent management, and career development concerns. Before holding that role, he served for several years as the Chief Deputy Clerk of Court for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and previous to that position, he practiced for several years in the Governmental Affairs Department of a large New Jersey law firm.
Andrew is Behavioral Health First Aid certified.
