Matt Fitzgerald is an associate in the firm’s Business Law department and a member of its Private Equity and Global M&A groups. Matt’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and venture capital transactions. He has also advised senior executives at some of the world’s largest technology platforms on ethics, governance, and regulatory issues arising from emerging technologies.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Matt served as an infantry officer and judge advocate in the United States Army, where he advised commanders and informed policy at all levels of the Department of Defense.
Professional Activities
Matt is a member of the working group of the American Bar Association Committee on M&A Market Trends, which produces the Private Target Mergers & Acquisitions Deal Points Study, a widely cited resource on current M&A deal terms.
Matt maintains an active pro bono practice and was honored with Goodwin’s 2024 Robert B. Fraser Award, which recognizes one associate and one partner annually for outstanding commitment to pro bono work.
