Caroline Galiatsos is an associate in Goodwin’s Employment practice. Ms. Galiatsos counsels clients on a wide range of employment matters, including hiring practices, employee separations, pay equity, restrictive covenants and compliance with employment laws. She also has experience conducting workplace investigations, negotiating and drafting executive employment and separation agreements, representing clients in employment discrimination proceedings at governmental agencies and counseling on employment-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Galiatsos joined Goodwin in 2016.
Experience
Ms. Galiatsos works closely with clients on executive employment agreements, including in the context of initial public offerings, as well as on separation and transition agreements with a focus on facilitating smooth transitions in the workplace.
Ms. Galiatsos has worked with numerous clients to conduct self-evaluations of their pay practices pursuant to the Massachusetts Equal Pay Act. She also conducts pay equity trainings and advises clients on gender pay equity matters.
She routinely counsels clients on drafting and enforcing restrictive covenants agreements, including noncompetition agreements. Ms. Galiatsos also advises on general employment matters regarding hiring, transitioning, reductions-in-force and worker classification, and she has experience drafting offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, severance and change in control plans and general employment policies.
Her practice also involves conducting workplace investigations, including into harassment and discrimination allegations. Ms. Galiatsos has represented clients at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as in private mediations. She also provides anti-harassment and respectful workplace trainings for clients.
Ms. Galiatsos maintains an active pro bono practice that includes counseling nonprofit organizations on employment matters and representing a juvenile in immigration proceedings.
Professional Experience
Ms. Galiatsos was a summer associate at Goodwin in 2015. Prior to joining Goodwin, Ms. Galiatsos interned at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the Office of the General Counsel of Boston University.
Ms. Galiatsos was named a Distinguished Scholar at Boston University School of Law, where she also received the William L. & Lillian Berger Achievement Prize for outstanding academic and scholarly work. She also served as the senior note development editor of the Boston University Law Review.
Ms. Galiatsos is a member of the Boston Bar Association.
