John Hutar is a partner in Goodwin’s Technology group and specializes in all areas of corporate and securities law, with a primary focus on advising high-growth technology companies in all areas of corporate practice, including pre-incorporation planning, general corporate financing, venture capital financings, and mergers and acquisitions. John also represents venture capital funds, growth equity funds and strategic investors in transactions of all sizes.

John joined Goodwin in 2019 and serves as a member of the firm’s hiring committee. In recognition of his work, Mr. Hutar has been selected as a leading attorney in his field by Super Lawyers, which has named him a “Rising Star” in Northern California.

Professional Experience

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hutar worked at Cloudbase3, an early-stage startup, where he reviewed cloud-based products and services for a business audience. This hands-on experience gives Mr. Hutar a unique insight into the challenges facing early-stage Silicon Valley technology startups.

While attending law school, Mr. Hutar was a senior editor for the Hastings Business Law Journal and worked in the Silicon Valley office of a national law firm, where he focused on representing technology companies.
