Gyu Ik (Daniel) Jung, PhD, is a science advisor in Goodwin’s Business Law department and a member of its Life Sciences Intellectual Property group. He joined Goodwin in 2023.
Dr. Jung assist clients with matters relating to intellectual property, including patent drafting, patent prosecution, prior art research, and freedom-to-operate analysis. Dr. Jung assists clients with a wide range of technologies, including antibodies, small molecules, and peptides. He leverages his scientific training and expertise in cell and molecular biology in the contexts of oocyte/egg biology and reproduction to provide support in IP-related matters.
Areas of Practice
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Goodwin, Dr. Jung received his PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from Rutgers University, where he conducted research in determining factors that contribute to mammalian oocyte and egg quality using the mouse model. His graduate work focused on understanding the role of a transient organelle as a novel factor that contributes to the developmental competence of oocytes and fertility using a broad range of techniques, including microscopy, and cell and molecular biology.
During his time at Rutgers University, he also served as a Senior Fellow for the university’s Technology Transfer unit, where he assisted inventors and licensing managers with marketing preparations, as well as identifying and initiating partnership opportunities with industry.
