Jay Kim is an associate in Goodwin’s Litigation department. Jay is a patent litigation attorney and former engineer who brings deep technical insight to disputes involving semiconductors, mobile devices, and wireless communications. His practice centers on technically complex matters where deep engineering understanding is critical to effective advocacy.

Previous Professional Experience
Prior to joining Goodwin, Jay practiced for several years as a litigation associate at Arnold Porter’s Washington DC Office, where he represented global technology companies in federal district courts and before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). His experience includes handling matters involving semiconductor fabrication, smartphone technologies, software applications, wireless networking, wearable electronics, online gaming, and medical devices, as well as coordinating parallel district court and PTAB proceedings. Drawing on his background in electrical engineering, he translates complex engineering concepts into clear and effective litigation strategy.
Before attending law school, Jay worked as a research engineer at Samsung Electronics, gaining hands-on experience with semiconductors and device-level technologies.
